Deaf Connexions is able to provide training for Health and Social Care workers to address the communication needs of deaf and deafblind people in health and Social Care settings.
We have customized our successful Communication Tactics Course material to enable us to deliver training to these areas of service provision. The communication tactics included in the course are applicable to all groups of deaf people.
Why are good communication tactics essential ?
Basic communication skills are essential for all staff involved in providing direct services to the public. Deaf people's experiences of communication when they require health or social care is often disappointing and could put them in a position of being misdiagnosed or misassessed.
Staff need to be made aware of the isolation and frustration that many deaf people experience in their dealings with the various services that make up health and social care .
