Decorate bar lounge this month! Careful! Wet paint!
Work timetable
After 6 May all furniture and fittings will be taken out of bar lounge.
Skip needed for rubbish will come.
Any repairs to walls, floors will be done.
Then all painting and decorating to ceilings and walls will be done.
Floor will be fitted.
New furniture and fittings put in.
Equipment for Internet Cafe will then come.
Then we will meet to arrange Cafe organisation and training for Volunteers.
Then meeting with user groups to discuss the new Lounge and Cafe and make sure everything is OK before start.
Then launch big opening of Internet Cafe!
The Bar Lounge will not be able to be used while work is happening. The Internet cafe will be open Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm so no one else can use the Bar Lounge during this time. Anyone can book Bar Lounge for meeting or training after 3pm. Internet safety/ security will be in place and monitored. We will have an easy-to-use guide and people will be given help.

Quiddenham Hospice
Mrs Jenny Aldridge, lay minister for Deaf Church went to Quiddenham Children Hospice on 23rd April to hand over a donation of £100. Jessica Hiscocks was pleased to accept the cheque. This will cover one session on ''Family Bereavement''. The money was raised through raffles and Deaf Church services. Thank you to all who donated.
Diabetes talk
We have asked diabetes nurse Julie Widdowson to come in the summer and talk to us about diabetes. We will follow the talk with a healthy lunch. More details soon.
Flower Arranging
We will have a flower arranging workshop and demonstration at the Deaf Centre later in the year. We will make a display to take home
Easter Celebrations
Tuesday group had their Easter Celebration on 30th March at the Deaf Centre. They had to make their Easter Bonnet, and a competition was held to see who the winner for the ladies and for the men. The lady chef from the Vauxhall Centre came to judge them, and proclaim that Dennis Kemble won for the men, and Christine Pitcher won for the ladies.
Easter Service
The Easter Service at the Deaf Centre was enjoyed by a small group on Sunday 11 April. We will hold a Harvest Service later in the year.
Deaf Awareness Festival
Our DC Dreamers Line Dancers will be performing at the Deaf Awareness Festival in the Forum on 5 May 2010. Please go watch them. They will perform at 12.00 noon and again at 1.30pm.
History Group
Next session is on 12th May at Forum library for personal family history research. Please contact Julie for details.
